Microneedling has recently been reported to be promising, effective and a safe treatment modality in the treatment of AGA and various hair loss. The main aim of microneedling therapy is arresting of ongoing hair loss and helps in new hair growth. The effectiveness of conventional therapy for Androgenic alopecia has no/minimal new hair growth, with the addition of microneedling treatment leading to significant improvement in scalp density.
The reasons for this could be the many factors implicated in the pathogenesis of AGA which includes not only DHT but also inflammation, genes, signaling pathways. Growth factors, initiation of stem cells of the hair bulge and improving vascularity. The existing conventional therapies fail to target all of them. ⦁ The release of plateletderived growth factors and epidermal growth factors are increased through platelet activation and skin wound regeneration mechanism.
⦁ Activation of stem cells in the hair bulge area under wound healing conditions is caused by amicroneedling device.
⦁ The scalp should be cleansed with betadine and normal saline
⦁ A micro needle device will be manipulated over the affected areas of the scalp
⦁ This technique lasts for about 20-25 minutes.
⦁ The patients were advised to proceed with the conventional treatment.
The beneficial effect of micro needling in promoting new hair regrowth and faster hair follicle stimulation even in patients showing poor response to conventional therapy.
